Intro
For security reasons, the reception command on Funen chose to cancel all receipts. Nonetheless, London announced an airdrop would take place. The plane was "directed home" by just one man, while the remainder of the reception team stayed at home.

Notification was received for 7 drops to be made on Funen. Inclement weather prevented the planes from reaching the locations. People were hugely disappointed. It turned out later that the aircraft Stirling LK 279 from 138 Squadron, which was heading to the "Niels" drop zone at Østerballe, had crashed at Gamborg Fjord. The entire crew perished. Two airmen were later found. One of them, Richard York French, was buried in Fredericia and the other, William John Carthew, found in Fenesund, was buried in Middelfart.

The plane dropped 24 Tiger-containers and one package. 3-4 containers landed in large trees, which then had to be felled in darkness. The leader called it a unique experience. It was announced that there would be airdrops to 5 drop zones that night. The airdrops were made at 5-minute intervals.

As the reception team was on their way to the drop zone, a machine gun accidentally went off and injured two men. However, they were only slightly injured and could be sent home after a visit to the local doctor. The remainder of the reception team was at the drop zone. A German night fighter who was flying over the drop zone was accidentally sent a light signal. Shortly afterwards, the English aircraft arrived, but it continued across the drop zone without throwing any containers. Soon afterwards, German patrols moved into the area, and the team had to quickly leave the area. Several were stopped on their way home while others got off their bikes and disappeared into the fields.
