The team was at the drop zone. An aeroplane flew over the drop zone, so the light signal was given. However, it wasn't the English aircraft but instead, a German night hunter, who immediately sprayed the drop zone with machine gunfire. A man from the reception team, Tage Nielsen, was hit and killed. The English report states that the aircraft had been delayed and did not see any reception team at the drop zone. Tage Nielsen's parents hid their son's bloodstained clothes and torch, and in 1956 handed them over to the Freedom Museum.
