Having already flown over the drop zone once, the plane flew too far to the west, which resulted in the 12 containers all landing in tall beech trees. 7 containers went through the branches and could be salvaged, but 5 containers had to be left in the trees...
Having already flown over the drop zone once, the plane flew too far to the west, which resulted in the 12 containers all landing in tall beech trees. 7 containers went through the branches and could be salvaged, but 5 containers had to be left in the trees. They could not be rescued as it was feared that the local forester, who was a Nazi, would betray them.
