On 27th December, the first two Special Operations Executive (SOE) agents were dropped in Denmark. They were dropped "blindly", ie. without there being a reception team on the ground. Carl Johan Bruhn was appointed to be the first head of SOE in Denmark and Mogens Kjeld Aage Hammer ("Table Top"), was his radiotelegraphist. Bruhn was killed in the jump as his parachute did not open. Hammer searched for the airdropped radio but did not find it. He had to leave the body of Bruhn and go to Copenhagen. The following day, the body, the radio and the leftover equipment were found by Danish and German police.
