Stevningen drop zone

Reception report for the failed airdrop to the drop zone near Stevningen on 8 October 1944. The plane threw the cargo to the wrong location where it was seized by the Germans.

Intro

A member of the illegal Funen Command was arrested. He knew the location of the drop zone, so no one dared to carry out a reception.

The plane airdropped the cargo at the incorrect location and everything was taken by the Germans, including a Eureka (radio beacon).

The plane airdropped 18 Fox- containers and one package with a Eureka (radio beacon). 24 containers were expected. The trucks that were supposed to drive the containers away did not arrive, which is why the team had to leave the containers in the forest overnight. The containers were picked up by 5 men the following day. The consignment consisted of 110 machine guns and approx. 200 kg of explosives.
