The drop zone at Orø was ready and waiting for three planes to arrive. The island was cut off and held up by the resistance from Holbæk. The planes could not find the island because of the shadows of the clouds in the water in the moonlight. One of the planes, Stirling 942 from 299 Squadron, was on the way to the drop zone on Orø in Isefjord when he was hit by flak at Melby and crashed into Roskilde Fjord. The plane’s bomb aimer, T.A. McBeath was killed. Two injured crew members were captured by the Germans, whilst 3 men reached Sweden with the help of the resistance.
