Two days earlier, the Holger Danske group had tried to sabotage the factory but had to retreat after a gunfight with the sabotage guards. The group had had somewhat unsuccessful sabotages to date, so they put in use a new tactic. Instead of trying to enter the factory and plant the bombs on the individual machines, the factory was attacked from the front by a bomb squad who threw the bombs in through the windows. At the same time, a firearms team stopped the sabotage guards from getting into their firing positions. Explosive charges and firebombs were thrown in and the factory completely burned down. The factory had previously worked for the Germans, though it was not doing so at the time of the sabotage.
