The company manufactured ship pumps, and had delivered many in the past year to the Norwegian merchant fleet. The police believed that two explosive charges were used, one of which was planted on a very expensive milling machine. In the explosion, the roof was lifted and partly ripped from the building, many of the inner walls cracked and a hole was made in the stonework. To gain access to the company's buildings, the saboteur had cut through a barbed-wire fence and shot at the watchdog - it is unknown if the dog was hit.
