The airfield's kitchen was housed in a large wooden barracks with concrete foundations, which was approximately 120m2. It was divided into a large hall and several smaller rooms. There was a hole burnt in the partition wall by the electric stove in the kitchen. In addition, the ceiling above that wall was also burnt. Police concluded that the employees’ electric kettle was to blame for the fire, as the wall below the stove was not burnt. A young woman employed in the kitchen was subsequently dismissed for accidentally starting the fire.
