The building was to be taken over by the Wehrmacht and used as a residence for young women, probably secretaries and telephone operators. Both explosive charges and firebombs were used at the sabotage, the first of which was planted at the ground floor entrance. In the explosion, a large hole was blasted through the floor, the partition walls and ceilings were smashed and dislodged and all doors and windows were broken. In the neighbouring property, the force of the explosion broke many windows, the ceilings cracked and the walls and wallpaper were pierced by glass shards.
