Early in the morning, half a hundred men drove up to the engine factory. Some of the group entered the factory area and planted explosive charges. Several of the other saboteurs had run into the residential property, where they opened fire on the HIPO guards who were guarding the business. This made it impossible to remove the bombs that exploded 15 minutes later. The gunfight lasted for several hours, and several times both Danish and German ambulances had to collect the dead and wounded - this also included some random passers-by who were hit in the hail of bullets. The number of dead and wounded was estimated to be between 15 and 20.
