The sabotage was targeted at the joinery that produced models for iron casting. Five armed men held up the proprietor while several explosive charges were planted. Before leaving the company, they poured a combustible liquid over the floor and ignited it. Despite the fire department quickly extinguishing the fire, the building was heavily damaged. Floors, as well as ceilings and side walls, were blasted or dislodged. The courtyard was strewn with broken glass and rubble, and many of the close neighbouring properties had their windows shattered.
