70% of the company's production went to the Wehrmacht which included homing devices. Late at night on 21st August, the Holger-Danske group were in place outside the factory. The group had to spontaneously take on a whole new tactic after they failed to sneak into the factory. From a telephone booth they called the factory: “Now listen carefully, because your life is at stake! This afternoon, we planted a powerful explosive in the factory basement. It is connected to an electrical detonator and the wiring is ready to blast now. If I wanted to, I could detonate the charge right now and you and the factory would go up in smoke. We are not interested in killing fellow-countrymen, but if you want to save your life, you must leave NOW. Some people are waiting outside to take you. Raise your hands as you come out. You’ve got two minutes. If you raise the alarm or do anything thing else stupid, the charge will be detonated. Now you need to make a decision”. And out they came. Here they stood in the middle of the street with their arms up. But this could possibly attract too much attention so they were ordered back into the building, which they did reluctantly. The guards were disarmed and tied up. An English bomb made up of 8 kilos of plastic explosives and 4 firebombs were planted. The guards were allowed to collect their bikes, as they were led across the street and safely into a yard. The fuses were lit, and large parts of the factory collapsed in the explosion. There was a raging fire even though several of the firebombs had not worked.
