The company was not working for the Wehrmacht at the time of the sabotage but had previously built radio equipment for German submarines. Production was only stopped because of a shortage of materials. There were still orders being placed by the Germans. Armed men gained access to the factory and ordered the staff to go down into the yard. One highly explosive charge was then planted on a lathe in the assembling room, which was subsequently completely destroyed. The explosion also made holes in both the masonry and the ceiling which was over the blast area. Before the detonation, the saboteurs had poured petrol or another flammable liquid into the room.
