On 4th October 1944, four SOE agents were airdropped near Skive: Kjeld Toft-Christensen ("Rover"), Viggo Balschmidt Sørensen ("Howard"), Christian Steman Petersen ("Austin") and Leif Bangsbøll ("Hudson"). The team had previously tried to parachute into Denmark a few days earlier without success, but now finally succeeded in airdropping down. The following day they were in Aalborg. All agents, who were Danish officers, were appointed as liaison officers to assist individual regional leaders with the construction of the underground army and other such things. Toft-Christensen had arrived in England from Africa where he had served in the Foreign Legion. He was affiliated with Region II (Central Jutland) and later became the leader of the liquidation group "Intervention". Balschmidt Sørensen had originally fled to Sweden because his illegal group had been discovered in May 1943. He had since moved to England. His work area became Region V (Zealand). Steman Petersen was a naval officer and had come to England at the beginning of 1944. He should have been affiliated with Region III (Southern Jutland) but was assigned Region II instead (Central Jutland). Bangsbøl was a Danish-American and had joined the American army. He was most probably the only Dane trained by OSS (Office of Strategic Services -the forerunner of the CIA). After he finished the training he was sent to England and affiliated with SOE. His work was in Region II (Central Jutland).
