Intro

Following the municipal reform in 1970, the decision was made to build a new school for the town’s growing population.

Following the municipal reform in 1970, the decision was made to build a new school for the town’s growing population.
The new school was opened in August 1971 while the sports facilities had been in use since 1969. On entering the school building, you will see artworks adorning corridors and common rooms. They all tell stories of Hou – local history as well as numerous legends that have originated in this part of the country.
The artworks were created in 1993 as part of a project entitled “Herfra min verden går (From here, my world unfolds)”. A group of local artists known as Syntese began to delve into the local history together with pupils in the school, various local institutions, and individuals. The artists then used the narratives that they uncovered as inspiration for paintings, sculptures and much else.
