Intro
The plane airdropped 22 Fox-containers and a package (Eureka), which was shattered in the drop. The consignment consisted of 2 machine guns, 2 PIAT (anti-tank), 105 carbines, 200 hand grenades, 30 gammon grenades and 15 pistols...
The plane airdropped 22 Fox-containers and a package (Eureka), which was shattered in the drop. The consignment consisted of 2 machine guns, 2 PIAT (anti-tank), 105 carbines, 200 hand grenades, 30 gammon grenades and 15 pistols. The dispatch of 20 Fox-containers and 2 packages from drop zone 50 Skellingsted, fell some distance from the drop zone and was found by a local churchwarden, who then reported it to the Germans. The Germans found the two packages, whilst the remainder of the dispatch was salvaged. This consignment consisted of 2 machine guns, 2 PIAT (anti-tank), 105 carabines, 300 hand grenades, 50 gammon grenades and 12 pistols/revolvers.
