In the first few years of the war, he had been in Brazil and came to England in 1943, where he was recruited by the SOE. After the airdrop, he soon came to Copenhagen, where his job was to work with the illegal press and English propaganda. On 1st September 1944, he and SOE agent Frants Lassen were arrested by the Gestapo.
