On the night of February 14th, 1944, SOE agent Frants Axel Lassen ("Fritz") was airdropped to Flyndersø. He, like his well-known brother, Anders Lassen, had been recruited by the British Army in 1942. Frants Lassen had later been transferred to SOE. He was scheduled to be the personal assistant to the SOE leader, Flemming B. Muus, in Copenhagen, but for unknown reasons, he ended up working primarily in Jutland. In August 1944, Lassen was transferred to Copenhagen. On 1st September, he and SOE Agent Knud Herschend were arrested by the Gestapo. They were subjected to violent interrogations, and in the days that followed, several SOE agents and people affiliated with the organization were arrested across the country.
