Nazis in Tommerup

Intro

During the German occupation, there was a meeting place for Danish Nazis between Tommerup and Tommerup Stationsby. They used to meet there until their rostrum was blown up by the Resistance in 1945.

Occupied Funen Funen is renowned for its idyllic and fertile landscape, but its people have also experienced poverty, and the island has been taken over and occupied at times – either by foreign powers or by fear. The struggle of the extreme political wings On Funen, the lines between communists and Nazis were drawn well before the war. Due to the large industrial facilities in Odense, the communist party was strong, but, among the large number of patriots on Funen, there were people who sympathised with Hitler and Nazism. Odense was one of the Danish cities where the resistance was particularly intense.
